avi- got sound, can't get video

hi guys, happy new year!!!

I'm downloading AVI, and playing it on WMP. I can get the sound, but can't get the video.

I've got AVI ticked in my type of files to play.

I've also got video on DVD that other people have given me and the same thing happens,.

can anyone help?

You're going to need one of these.

If you have Nero, you can burn them onto a blank DVD and play them anywhere.
