Default Questions About 'Zipped File' Worm (Fontra) and Flash Drives

Hello everyone. I thank you in advance for any help.

Well, we have contracted the 'Fontra' worm (the one that begins by turning everyones music files into zipped files) through Limewire, and it has wreaked total havoc on our PC so that now we have to reformat.

BUT... when we FIRST discovered the zillions of zipped song files, we didn't know about the virus, but we did delete about half of the zipped 'songs'. The rest of the zipped files were songs we wanted to keep, so we transferred them to a Flash Drive. (I now know... stupid, stupid, stupid).

The Flash Drive hasn't been used since we transferred the zip files to it.
Can a Flash Drive run this worm inside itself.... like will the infected zip files infect the other files on the Flash Drive?

Could I just plug the Flash Drive into a virus-protected PC and manually delete the zipped files?
Also can a PC's virus scan be run on a Flash Drive? If so, how?

Will it ever be safe to use this flash drive with a PC again?

I know thats a lot of (probably silly) questions, but there are things (reports, homework, pictures, original poetry, etc) on the Flash Drive that cannot be gotten again, so I'm trying to learn all I can.

I greatly appreciate anyone taking the time to lend me some advice. Thanks in advance for any and all answers to my questions.

Thank You.
C

Side Note - Out of curiosity, I would also love to hear from anyone who had/has this worm to tell me their story about it.

Default

This is about the only fix that has worked on this virus..
The only AV that I know of to get rid of this virus is AVG, it is free...So if you aren't running that AV the best thing to do is disable the one you have and download AVG, scan your computer, get rid of the virus and then you can uninstall AVG and make your normal AV active again...

AVG download.....AVG Free Advisor - AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

If you where to plug in your flash drive via the USB port you could configure AVG to scan it as well and get rid of the virus inside that way...( I hope)
