![]() Hello all this is my first post and I wish everyone well. I`ve trailed through the forums for some help deleting files in my Library to no avail. There appers some folders which are empty and also some which hold files etc. There are only certain files that seem to be able to be removed. Also it seems that all Software files I attempt to download seem to be infected. Is this the same for everyone. Hope you can help, Wineprovider............ ![]() |

![]() You need to be security conscious if you're going to use p2p...there are so many infected files around. Make sure that you have a good AV program. Keep it updated & scan all files that you've downloaded before you open them. Check file sizes before download. If you're trying to download a music file & you see something that's 197.7 KB or 228.0 KB or 408.0 KB in size...the alarm bells should go off because they're just way too small to be a real music file (those file sizes are just 3 examples of common infected files). Many zip, rar & exe files are infected & it's up to you whether you want to take the chance of downloading programs. Just remember to always check a file with Bitzi before download (Bitzi is a site where users can rate files & it's great for picking up misnamed or generally dodgy files) & scan with your AV before opening. How to use Bitzi Also worth reading: WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of If you're stuck with files that won't delete, try the advice here. If deleting in safe mode doesn't work, both Unlocker & DelinvFile are good ![]() http://www.gnutellaforums.com/174735-post2.html |

![]() AS a novice the advice given to delete the files is a bit complicated is there a more obvious way to remove the files. Why can`t they be removed in the normal way? Greatfull THANKS for the virus advice. God bless, Wineprovider |

![]() Some files may be stubborn (especially if they are dodgy files) & may not let you delete them in the normal, simple way. For instance, you may get an error telling you that the file's being used by another program & so it can't be deleted. Booting into safe mode is easy...just keep tapping the F8 key as you start your computer. Safe mode The other 2 apps I mentioned (Unlocker & DelinvFile) are easy to use & very handy for getting rid of files which otherwise won't delete. Of the 2, Unlocker is probably the easiest to use. Once it's installed, right clicking on a file will give you the option of letting Unlocker deal with it...it will tell you whether a locking handle is found & if not, you can still choose to delete using Unlocker. If files can't be deleted then & there, it will give you the option to delete the file when you next restart your computer. It's really user friendly. ![]() Last edited by birdy; August 17th, 2007 at 03:16 AM. |

![]() I give up the undeleteable files will have to stay there. I downloaded Unblocker and followed the destructions but it didn`t work. i.e. right click etc. I started in safe mode and it wouldn`t let me load Limewire to access the Library because of a firewall. I tried to disable the firewall but couldn`t do that so forget it everyone; they will have to stay there. God bless, wineprovider |

![]() Stop the clock !!!!!!!! I`ve found a way to delete what I don`t want. Highlight the file not wanted left click and hold and drag the files to the desktop where they can be deleted as usuall. Simple like me but it worked. Thanks to all, Wineprovider |
