If you have both the .limewire and the LimeWire folders delete both...
Lotr has explained where to find these in this sticky...
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...ng-should.html

Hopefully this will get you into Limewire and have it stop freezing....
Otherwise if this does not work, try to remember what the file/s where that may of caused this to happen and enter the title of it/them into your computers search function and try deleting them that way...

Well to tell you, once again, my limewire didn't freeze my computer or anything. And even though if I do a search or repair my reg. with a program, I still get the windows explorer message. But I will try Lotr's fix even though I don't think it will work. Add me to your buddy list? Thanks wondering why...

I don't want to use Lotr's fix even though it will reset all your limewire's settings. I don't want to use Lotr's fix because I don't want to delete my shared folder with all my downloaded songs and pictures. I found many solutions but I'm afraid to try it out, it might screw up my PC. Please reply. Or with a solution.

You sure...? Just ask Lotr, just to be safe. Please. If I won't lose it, okay I'll try it out. Thanks. Reply again.

I'm sure as I have had to delete the preference folder myself a little while back...
I'm just hoping this will get you into Limewire and from there you can delete the last few files that you downloaded before all this started happening...That way you will be able to access your shared folder outside of limewire again...

Default Lotr's Fix

Hey, wondering why... I've tried Lotr's fix that helped me reset all my limewire's setting. So, when I've installed java runtime many times, I've deleted all javas and used java 1.5 update 12. After that, I then begin proceeding with the fix by Lotr. By starting to delete my limewire preference's folder, I then redownloaded limewire using the offline installer. Having things done quickly, I've started limewire, and it works! By going through the setup, it told me which folder to be shared with... So, I used my default "shared" folder. I clicked next and the setup suddenly closes. But when I reopen and go back to the setup, I then picked a new folder. Finally, limewire works again! Though I think it's not java problem, it's maybe the file in my folder. Also, though I have limewire running, my old 'shared' folder still won't open! Please reply, and thanks to you.

Try to remember what files you downloaded before you had all this trouble..
Go to your computers Search and type them in, when the offending file/s pop up delete them, make sure you delete them from your recycle bin also..
Hopefully after that you will be allowed back into your original shared folder and then you can make that the default folder again for Limewire...

No worries any more! Problem fixed! I suddenly happened to fix my solution. When I happen to have my limewire working, the library of which it was my "new folder" rather than the unaccessible "shared" folder I seem to have fixed the situation. I happen to use avast Antivirus to scan my shared folder. To tell you again, I scanned the folder till about a few minutes later, it stopped or frozed. So somebody have helped me in the limewire forums. The guy says it's a worm in the folder (I think) and recommend I should use AVG. After I downloaded AVG, I installed & started it. I didn't scan yet, but I happen to try and scan the "shared" folder. After scan, it didn't interrupt or froze but I suddenly find myself able to open it, which it did! The file CAN'T be deleted because it's probably a program-kind-of file (jpeg).
