Default limewire slows down my comp!

limewire version 4.13.6
system:
Microsoft Windows XP
Media Center Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
HP pavilion
AMD Athlon(tm)64 Processor
3500+
2.19 Ghz, 1.00 GB of RAM
Recently for some reason, my limewire's been slowing down my WHOLE computer, I'll explain. Before i was using it and it was just fine, then one day it just started making the whole computer slow down, the animation of my mouse cursor glitches, things take long to open, and my music/sound is even slown down and glitching. this seems to happen now whenever i have limewire on, eventually the comp glitches up in a few hours of use. I'm not sure how else to explain it, but I've tried changing to the newer version and deleting all the old version files, but in vain. The problem has persisted, even when I uninstalled and reinstalled it, help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Default Run Task Manager and see what's "eating you" !

Hiya...

In XP, please run Task Manager...

Examine the Processes Usage...

What file names represent the high CPU usage ?

This will be a start in trying to help you...

Well, I do see that it takes up about 60 , 000 K - 170,000 K in memory it actually increases alot, and when it runs the cpu usage seems to go to like 70 - 80 % I have like 70 processes running usually. Then when I end the process of limewire, the cpu usage goes down alot. like 10% so what do you suggest?

I have the same problem with version 4.14.8 and java verified fine on their website with version 6 update 2. Although I am running vista but if he has xp then its the same. Its limewire.exe and uses a cpu of 40-50% but it says 100% cpu usage on the bottom of the task manager with no other processes showing anything more than 5%. It says 77,608K for memory and physical memory is about 46%

Guys

Just a thought but, as LW is a disk intensive program, i.e. it is constantly using your HD, then it stands to reason that your HD will become fragmented and so slow down. Therefore, regular defragging of your HD, say once a month, will keep your programs and applications running as fast as you expect them to.
