How can improve search quality ??

Help, I have just upgraded to Limewire Pro 4.14.10 from an earlier version (I believe Limewire 4.12.X) and the searcg function has downgraded substantially.
When I searched for files labelled abc*001 I only received files with abc and 001 in the filename ... with the new version I receive hundreds of files which can not be related to the original search term ?

HAs anybody experience with this, how can I get search more precise or how can I narrow down search results ???
