Limewire shuts down almost as soon as I open it

Limewire opens properly but as soon as I tried to search an audio source it shuts down. I downloaded Java and followed other instructions but to no avail.:(

Any suggestions???Thanks:)

What version of Java are you using...

Try this if you haven't already...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;)

I downloaded J2SE 5.0 as instructed above, but now get the following message: "LW needs Java Runtime Environment 5.0 or above. Click Ok to go to java.com: Hot Games, Cool Apps where you can insatall Java."
I already had Java TM(5) and TM(6) and that didn't work either.

Did you download the JRE or the JDK ???

Having the latest version of Java (Java 6 and above) causes this to happen even if you also have an older version present. Uninstall the latest version or wait for an update to Limewire to fix this. (fix plz guyz kthx)

You needed to remove all Java versions before installing the Java 1.5 (JRE 5.0 Update 11 / J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE))

Yes Java 1.6 has been a problem for many users. :)
