I've been using limewire for well over a year and never had any problems. In the past week when I try to open it up the limewire logo comes up but the program never actually opens. The logo just sits on the screen. I downloaded the newest version and tried installing it a few times and nothing. I don't know what to do as I have never had any problems and haven't changed anything on my computer. Please help!!!

Try the fixes here starting with steps 2 & 3 Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link). If that doesn't fix it, try step 1.

I did step number two but I wasn't sure if I should send it to the recycle bin or do I have to delete it completely? When I tried step number 3 I couldn't find the limewire folder. I made sure that all hidden folders were shown and still nothing. I'm going to try step number one anyway. Any other suggestions?

yes empty the recycle bin. Next time you open LW, it will create a new set of preferences, however next time they will be found in the location in step 3.

You can try steps 5 & 6 if the other steps don't work.

Ok so i deleted the preference folder. Now I'm trying step 1. I downloaded the java from the link that was given. I'm trying to install it right now but it says checking for latest version and the status bars at the bottom just keep flashing. What the heck am I doing wrong? : (

Remove all previous Java versions using your Add/Remove control panel. Download the OFFLINE version, then install that one. Don't use online installers for java, they often result in corrupt installations.

Ok I did steps 5 and 6 and then when it tried to open i got a message that said limewire could not create a temporary preferences folder?

Which windows OS are you using? If Vista, then see the Stickys in the Vista section of the forum.

Try rebooting before starting up LW again.
