Limewire does not recognize my email address... In the past several years, I've purchased Pro on two separate occasions, each for different computers. The first purchase was an on line download, but the second one, a disc was sent me by US mail, which I still have, as well its original packing, with the Madison Avenue address (for Limewire). My problem is this: I've been out of the country and recently returned and purchased yet another notebook. When I inserted the Limewire Pro disc everything went well without a single hitch except until arriving at Limewire's actual site where repeated messages advise me to update (4.8 Pro) to a newer version. When I attempt this, despite Limewire's credo of it being a onetime purchase, my email address is not recognized and, for all intents and purposes, I'm sent packing down the road. Now, the version I have is fine; I'm satisfied. It is just that Limewire's repeated flashing in red letters sign advising me of a newer version is a damn nuisance! Please, will someone tell me how I might resolve this issue? Thanks sincerely, vsjane |
It's a one time puchase of whatever installers you download during the time that your Pro benefits are current. ie if you pay for 6 months' worth of Pro then whatever installers you download during those 6 months are yours to use for as long as you like (providing you save the installers). Likewise, if you pay for 6 months' worth of Pro, you'll have free updates for 6 months. If your Pro benefits aren't current then you can't get free updates. Your Pro's way out of date...4.8 is really old. If you want to update Pro, you'll have to buy it again. Your email address will only be in the database while your Pro benefits are current;) Yours would be long gone. You're better off trying out the free basic version, you might find that you don't like all the changes since 4.8. Or you might find that you're happy with the basic version. |
Birdy Thanks, I think you're telling me what I pretty much guessed. Yet, when I purchased the second disc, it was my understanding (then) that I was purchasing Limewire Pro into infinity and not just the version they sent me, but that one and any updates that could go to it additionally. I suppose that is naive. It seems a bit of a hoax to say it is a one time fee and then harrass you with flashing neon signs advising you to update (jargon for purchase; again) the system you're running. I don't mind the money, it isn't this, no, not this at all, I just hate this feeling, and thought, that I've been had (and, ironically, the address for Limewire is a New York City Madison Avenue address, the heart of scam-America). Thanks for taking the time to respond, I do appreciate this. Jane |
LW need to make it clearer on their website exactly what 'one time payment' refers to. A lot of people get confused & assume that they can download free updates forever. I don't think Pro should even have an update nag;) |
Yes, I completely agree; in my investigations, I located (the smallest writing) a phrase that informs six months is the longest an email address will be kept in thier (Limewire's) database. No wonder when I put mine into that tiny window, I was continually admonished for an incorrect address and told to enter another. Thanks again, Jane |
