Default Limewire Isn't Working (not opening)

2. What firewalls you have? All I know is Windows Firewall

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.14.10 Java(TM) 6 Update 2
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Brighthouse Networks
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I don't guess so, I can't get Limewire to come up to see

I have used Limewire for a long time, but recently it just stopped connecting. I would click the desktop icon, but nothing would happen. I deleted Limewire and Java and reinstalled it, but still nothing happens. Can someone help me fix this?

Try updating your Java: Java SE Downloads
Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing this one.

Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

If that doesn't help, right click on the LW icon > properties > compatibility. Try running in compatibility mode for Win 2000 or NT.

Do you have Alcohol software installed? If so, look here.
LW starts then close, log: resolve_virtual_call

Thumbs up This Worked On My Windows XP Simple Fix

Okay I Fixed my Limewire On My Windows XP. For the past 6 Days, Every time I tried to open LW, Nothing would happen. I went to Add/Remove programs and deleted Java and all of the updates. I went to the Sun website and Downloaded the SE version 6 offline installer. I saved the program to my documents, double clicked on the Java Icon and installed version 6 without any updates. The LW Icon on my desktop worked when I clicked on it, but an error message popped up saying an error ocurred and to download LimeWire again. I popped in my LimeWire Pro disk and Downloaded it again. I had to go through the setup process again, but I just did a quick search on my hard drive to get all my files back into the LimeWire library. I hope you didn't get as frustrated as I did, and I hope maybe this was helpful. If you need better instructions as to how I did this, Private message me and I will give you a better description of what I did to resolve the issue.
