another "help my limewire opens by itself" topic

Yea, I downloaded a set up file, my stupidity. I thought I fixed my problem by getting rid of Java, and Limewire completely (I did a complete system search for "lime" and deleted everything). I have my ctrl-alt del, so I think this is different then the usual, and there are no unusual tasks that I see.

There was also no viruses reported by McAfee.

So after getting rid of everything, I tried again, but went to an older version, and it worked!!! So I was good, and then I started my computer again and all of a sudden it pops up again. The other issue is I have no control over limewire preferences, the window pops up for a half a second and dissappears.

So I tried following some of the other guides on here, but nothing seems to be working and I'm lost. Help please?

For the problem with not being able to access options, download AVG Free AV. Update it & scan your computer. There's a link for download in the thread below.

If AVG doesn't also help with LW constantly restarting, have a look through the thread below...there are a few fixes from different posters;) If nothing helps, this thread has links to forums that offer specialised help with malware issues.

Yeah, that actually fixed it, I saw that that fixed the options not viewable in another topic and tried AVG and it worked, and that solved the other problem (So far I hope, lol). The trojan was actually located in the Windows Fonts folder. Thanks for the help, the problem was actually a lot simpler than I expected.
