Were you trying to download using the online or offline installer? Using the online installer can lead to a corrupted installation...try the offline. When you click to download LW & a dialog box pops up asking if you want to save the file, cancel that. Now use the option to download the offline installer.

Might also check Java...
Try updating your Java: Java SE Downloads
Before updating, go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Now Delete ALL versions of Java you find. Now Download the JRE Offline installer

Hope this helps.

Unhappy

I don't have any error messages, but today my LimeWire stopped working for some unknown reason. It just will not start. I keep hammering the icon and entering the correct pathway, but nothing happens.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but now not even the installation file works. Same thing - starting the executable file, but nothing happens. Reading this email, I started thinking this could be something Java related. So I uninstalled every Java update I've ever installed on this computer, downloaded the software from Java.com, and installed it.

Still nothing works...!

I actually discovered, while writing this post, that I can't select anything from the Message options either. Not the smileys, nor character formating...
What is going on?
*Edit: This was caused by me blocking scripts - nothing to do with my problems with Limewire...*

I still suspect it to be something related to Java, but I just can't see what it is. Please advise. Thanks.

I have had the same problems as both of you guys. Where it doesnt even start up, I fixed that by just downloading a different version of limewire. And now with Lime Wire Pro 4.14.12 I keep getting an error message that its corrupted, but the thing is, It was working fine ealier on that day, and it just started showing that message. I'v reinstalled, iv done everything...still broke.

Edit - I apologize, Downloading that latest version of java worked. I love you Remoc. =]

Thumbs up

Now it works.

I had to uninstall Java again, use CCleaner to remove any trace of Java and Limewire in the registry (remember to restart in between), and finally reinstall first Java and then Limewire.

The reason why I earlier couldn't execute the installation file, was of course because this was also a java-based program.

PS. More useful tools like CCleaner at Piriform - The best software is free!.
