Help Please (legality, comparison to FW, chkdsk) Hello, I am new to this forum and I have a few questions: -First of all is LimeWire Legal? I heard that it was illegal and that you could be fined thousands of dollars for using it. -Is LimeWire better or FrostWire? -I have LimeWire but something happened and now I get these little pop-ups saying that LimeWire is corrupted and that I have to run the chkdsk utility. What is that and how do I do it? It made me lose all of my saved files and anything that I try to download only loads to 99% and not 100% Please help. Thank you. -Shadowbeast316 |
Limewire itself as a program is legal for the company, and as long as you are using it for sharing your own files, ie. a clip of you singing, etc. it is legal. However if you're downloading songs from other people, it is considered illegal and you can be fined several thousand dollars for it if they catch you. The probability of being caught is pretty low unless you're downloading hundreds of songs, then RIAA might suspect you. So just keep the amount of songs you download relatively low. Don't use it 24-7. You could also just try using Rhapsody. You have to download best buy digital music store. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial where you can download as many songs from them as you want for free. Just don't buy any of them, otherwise it'll bill you for a subscription when the trail expires. When your trial expires, just make up another email address, it'll still work and give you another month of the trial. This is what i do to get most of my songs. It's perfectly legal since it's through Rhapsody. |
