Cannot uninstall, install, and get Limewire started!!

I havent used limewire for long time, and today I tried to use it. but I couldnt. everytime I click the icon, it says "Limewire unable to load. Please download and install Limewire again."

So.. Hm.. ok I can do that.
I downloaded the new one, but before the install it keeps saying "Error! Can't initialize plug-ins directory, Please try again later."

I NEED HELP....:( I did what I could do... but couldnt figure it out. :(

Thank you, have a good day!

To Uninstall if using XP, Go to Start > All Programs > Limewire > Uninstall.

Now Go to Start > Search > All Files/Folders > Type in Limewire > Search.
Delete everything that comes up.

Now you can start a fresh download of Limewire Basic. :D

error message

My apologies for resurrecting a dead thread, but I am encountering the same error message as max531.

I tired the solution given in this thread but to no avail. If anyone can assist me I would be most grateful.

I can give more info as needed, I was just wondering if there have been others with this problem that have been successful in fixing it. Thank you

Hey there folks-what-are-smarter-than-me, I'm getting the same error message as above, the "can't initialize plug-ins directory." I have Vista :=( with all the updates, and the latest Java. Any help...? Please?

I had LimeWire on my old XP machine with no problems. Once again, thank you Vista.
