Getting the same results each time Hi all I am new here and also new to Limewire. I downloaded the basic version, had a problem, so I uninstalled it and installed the beta of the new version, but got the same problem. No matter what I search for, I seem to get the same results, but just with the file names changed to whatever I searched for. For example, if I search for 'pogues' then I will get 3 zip files - One named 'pogues' at 1,249KB, one named 'sexy pogues' at 93.9KB and one named 'pogues naked' at 1,249KB, a wma file called 'pogues' at 1,887KB, 7 mpg files, called 'pogues' at 227.0KB and 7 HTML files, called 'pogues' at 0.2KB. If I then search for Elvis, I get 3 zip files - One named 'elvis' at 1,249KB, one named 'sexy elvis' at 93.9KB and one named 'elvis naked' at 1,249KB, a wma file called 'elvis' at 1,887KB, 7 mpg files, called 'elvis' at 227.0KB and 7 HTML files, called 'elvis' at 0.2KB What I don't get are what appear to be legitimate files. Has anyone got any ideas what may be causing this, and how it can be cured? It basically renders Limewire completely useless for me Thanks |
Limewire has nothing to do with the content on the network. It has no servers so what you are seeing, are files from other hosts. P2P is file sharing from other computers. Your not downloading anything from Limewire itself. Also you can filter a lot of the bad crap by doing this if you so choose. Go to Tools > Options > Filters > Keywords. Add the following file extensions to block, .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, .mov. After you have added the extensions hit apply and then OK. You can unblock the ext. if you feel the need to do so. |
