Question ?? Something Blocking P2P - Any good ideas ??

Hi all,

Well here we go I am using a HP laptop and have sp2.

I have tried limewire and frostwire but neither of them finish loading. They both get to 100% loading and then the window closes. Under normal circumstances this is when limewire should open, but this does not happen instead limewire stops running in task manager and nothing else happens. This is the same process for Frostwire.

Does anyone have any idea what is blocking the applications.

I am running AVG and windows firewall and no other protection and they both have both the p2p applications allowed so I have no Idea what may run in the background stopping them.

Please help.

I must mention it is none of the common errors like java or instalation errors. I have tried many different things but I have had no luck.

Thank you in advance.

Have you tried steps 5 & 6 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link). Try both Windows NT & 2000 compatibility.

When you said you tried different Java ideas .. did you try Java 1.5_11 after removing all other Java versions? Else, try Java 1.6 ? ALways use the "OFFLINE" installer .. not the one that installs over the internet ... that one commonly results in problems.

Yeah mate have tried all those ideas and did remove allversions of java ... ... ...

I am looking for any ideas not on the common threads as I have searched and tried all the common ones so am looking out side the box ...

I would expect it to be either a programme blocking the .exe file or a programme that is conflicting with java but have not yet wrked out what option it is. Here is a link to my old post that shows the Java error report that may help and show why I think is a conflict with another programme.
