Default Blue screen error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

hi,

i keep getting this blue screen of death message after installing the latest version of limewire (4.16.2): IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

It then proceeds to dump the memory and freeze the computer. When I reboot everything seems to be fine until I run limewire again.

i am running windows xp pro. It says its a conflict with a driver and that may be, but it is defintely a limewire problem becase i just did a clean install of windows and never had this problem until i installed and ran limewire.

anybody else experience this and find a fix for it? it is super annoying!

what other programs did you install BEFORE LW, and you have to ask yourself which of them were warez...

this error message is very commonly associated with an overheating CPU or bad RAM...it could also be your power supply starting to go south..it may even be that you are not fully updated on your OS (or possibly you are trying out SP3 which is still in beta)...might even be your NIC card...

are you able to write down and post the exact error message, you know something like:
STOP: 0x0000000A (0x0000015a, 0x0000001c, 0x00000000, 0x80116bf4)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

but...after reading your post again you say its a driver issue....have you installed the latest drivers for all of your hardware?...and as a last thought, when you did the new install did you load the chipset drivers for your motherboard? (this should be done immediately after booting into the fresh OS for the first time)

OK to respond:

1) There were no other warez programs installed before or after LW

2) I doubt this is overheating or bad RAM...The error ONLY occurs when LW is running, and I have used other cpu and memory intensive programs on my laptop WITHOUT the error before and after LW was installed

3) my OS was completely up-to-date prior to install of LW

4) All drivers were updated upon the new install.

5) I will try to make it happen again and write the error codes down...

you didn't mention if you installed the chipset drivers for your MoBo...

where did you get the drivers for you hardware (from the manufacturer or did you let window$ update deal with it)?

and have you by any chance installed the beta SP3...there are rumblings about the new Vista SP killing of things like certain DVD decrypters do it wouldn't really surprise me if Micro$oft was playing other games at this point....I'm kind of sick and dead tired so I am going to bed, so don't expect another response from me until at the earliest tomorrow night...

hey i appreciate the help...

ok, so yes, i installed the latest chipset drivers and my device drivers are from the manufacturer, not windows update.

I did not install sp3.

and it just happened again so here is my error message:

STOP: 0x00000004 (0x9d086240, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8051ede8)

thanks...
