Hi, How big of an improvement is LimeWire Pro?

I read what the LimeWire page said but id didn't give very many detailed answers such as; how much faster it will be, how many more sources, etc. I would appreciate your help.

I have used Limewire for years. I got a new hard drive so i was reinstalling programs. When I put in Limewire , now it will not connect. I spent tons of time reading and seeing forum post that go no where. If it won't work with Basic I have my doubts that paying money for pro is going to change a thing.

Pro will connect you to 5 ultrapeers, rather than basic's 3...so there's the potential for better search results.

In older versions of LW, there used to be a setting where you could change your speed (either cable/dsl, T1 or T3) & that used to effect the max number of hosts you could connect to per download (max used to be 14 hosts for a T3 connection). But now there's only the choice between 'broadband' & 'dial up' so I can't tell you whether LW can magically work out your speed:lmao:

I have a ~1700 kbps download speed & the max hosts I've been able to connect to with 4.16.3 Pro is 10. That's 2 hosts more than you'll connect to with basic (not a huge difference IMO).
Sorry if that doesn't help you too much, but we can only give us much info as we've learned thru using LW.
Like you said, the website doesn't tell you much & it's not like the developers let us know of any changes to LW:wasntme:

My best advice would be to stick to basic (free) LW!

I am using Windows XP pro. I have checked to make sure Windows firewall has Limewire in the groups to let in. Totally shut down virus just to see...But still Blocked. It was never this hard before. It has always been a great resource to use in the past. But Nothing should be this hard to set up. I do have a D-Link Dir. 655 N router..But I read all the things for that as well ....That route is not in your list (Go Figure)... The TEST page says I accessed the page which means I got through...
Speeds 4.7 Mbp Have seen no problems other than the Newest version
4.16 of Limewire will not connect.
Like I said before..if Basic will not EASILY work, paying for pro will really make me feel abused when it will not work either.
