Black Screen When starting limewire??

This only just started recently, but every time i load up limewire, about a minute after its loaded everything freezes up and my screen goes black. I have to then manually shut down. This happens with no other programs.

Anyone encountered this before?

P.S. I have run anti-virus and anti-spyware several times with no luck.

It Might be a Java issue.

First of all, install Java. Download the JRE offline installer & Remove any other Java versions installed (via Add/Remove Programs) before you install the latest Java.

seems to have worked for the moment. thanks a bunch, i would have never figured that out, i thought it was a possible corrupted file i couldn't get rid of.

Thank you!

Yes! I am having that same problem

I think it's a Vista/limewire issue. It only has to do with using limewire. I took it off and reinstalled it, also lost all my music too. Did clean up, virus removal the whole shabang. So now I will try the Jave thing that was mentioned. Please help, if you know how, anyone out there.

Also check the links in post #2 of this thread (click on link) & see whether anything helps: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...ck-screen.html
:)

Which version of LW are you using?
Have you used other LW versions before without a problem?

DeborahShane August 3rd, 2009 08:08 PM

Thank you, I'm using the latest LW, deleted all the others to reinstall the new one, thinking that would fix the problem. I will do the Jave thing now. I just removed all the old ones from my computer.

Thanks, again Deborah

Ok, did all that. Still getting the black screen after a little while. Then it goes all black and goes to the blue screen and shuts down the computer. It only happens with limewire. Do you know if I can install an older version?

Have you used other LW versions before without a problem? If so, which version(s) worked properly?

Something else that you could try is installing a slightly older version of Java 6: Archive: Download Java Platform Standard Edition (Java SE) 6u5
Remove any other Java version installed before installing this version. Reboot after installing.

Yes, you can install an older version of LW if you'd like to :)
This thread has a link to a 4.16 version: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...downloads.html

Otherwise let me know which version you'd like & if I have an installer saved, I'll give you a link.

Did you also check out the info in the link in post #5, just in case the issue's related to your graphics card?
And lots of info about blue screen in post #2 of this thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...een-death.html
