| that is part of the problem I am at work and do not have access to all of the information you need! I have tried everything I have found to do but it still shows a firewall found. I guess I will just not be able to use this at work. Thanks for the help anyway.all I can tell you is we use windows XP. dell computers, I am on a network of computers and have several firewalls. Not sure of the I.P. or modem info. |

| yes it can be difficult at work. At least try configuring the XP firewall manually, Windows Firewall - LimeWire You can also try connecting thru a different port: between 49152 - 65535 are good ones to try. To check open & closed ports, you can try these port checker sites: Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346 ______ Shareaza Connection Test A http://koti.mbnet.fi/gfactory/ctest/ ______ Shareaza Connection Test B If you can find a port open, use that for listening thru in LW settings; Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewalls. |

After looking into some of the items I have I found that I have symantec antivirus. Could this be causing me to not be able to use Limewire? What I get is a low connection quality and It also says enableing open information sharing that never goes away. |

| AV's are not normally firewalls, however, you sure Norton Firewall is not included in the package? If yes, then either disable Windows or Norton Firewall, as they will clash with each other & result in less security, not more, as well as give LW connection issues. You could try Phex to see if you have the same problems. It is another gnutella network program. It's very good but the interface is not as intuitive for new users to use than LW. It takes a little to get used to how it works, but does have advantages of connecting to more gnutella programs whereas LW mostly only connects to other LW users. Phex also has a size filter. |
