A problem with Limewire’s performance lately

I've been noticing since Limewire 4.12.10, it sucks up cpu speed like a hungry person at a "All you can eat" place as strange as that might sound. When Limewire, either 4.12.10 or 4.16.6 is working, Limewire makes the computer work very slow. When you have three other programs working besides Limewire, the computer runs even slower. May I also mention when the Limewire window is closed or minimized, the download progress bar seems to freeze? When I bring the window back up the download progress bar quickly adjusts itself and finally "Verifies the download." Is there any reason for this or is there just a bug in Limewire 4.12.10 and 4.16.6?

You and I are in the same boat. Limewire is a HUGE CPU pig. Would be great if you could forward any info if someone replies with a solution. I am going to post the the tech support forum and hopefully there is a solution.

Sure, no problem, I would be happy to send the info to you, or you can just check back here. Let me know if you find the solution to this problem too (Like the place where you find the info on the tech support thread.)

Do an upgrade to 4.16 it has a tick that will help with that problem.Thats the best thing i can tell you.

4.16.10 is the version that has the problem. 4.12.10 shows better performance than 4.16.10. 4.12.10 doesn't jam the downloads up when the window is closed. I might just downgrade to 4.12.10 and use that until Limewire gets the bugs in 4.16.10 fixed.

4.16 will not take all of the CPU.I have been useing for the last month.it is only useing 10% of my Cpu when it is runing. All you have too do is go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Performance. And Tick the Disable TLS Capabilities.

Much better. Thank you for the advice. It's amazing what a simple check on something can do.

The only thing now is to find out why Limewire is using so much memory. It's using an average of 67,300 k (67mb) worth of memory. I saw this when I brought the task manager up to see how much memory it was using. Could this be a simple temporary crash or glitch somewhere or is it nothing to worry about like a simple exit out and restart the program to balance the memory usage out?

Mine use's a average of 63,000Mb.Nothing to worry about if you need more ram just get some how much you runing with.If you dont no.Here is how you find out.Go to.

Oh, I thought 64mb and above was a high usage rate. I've seen the earlier versions of Limewire run on about 10mb-20mb at the highest.

I'm have 512mb worth of memory with a 3.7ghz Intel Celeron.

How many Stick's of ram do you have is it just one 512 stick or two 256 chips. If you only have one 512 stick than you can put one or two in depending on how many open spaces you have open.If you only have one open than go out and get your self another 512 stick. It's about 60 to 80 dollars depending on where you go.If you put another 512 in than that will give a little over a Gig of ram witch is quite good i only have 768.Just make sure you get the right kind if you dont it will not fit or mess the pc up.
