Something Is Wrong (files won't launch)

I am brand new to this site and it seems to be a great site but things are not working wright. I took the time to read the user guide and alot of forum post but can't find the problem. I'm running win 98 everthing I download comes up complete 100 percent but when select a file I hit launch nothing happens I read that it should turn green but nothing. I can't find it in Wmp or my limewire library. Also the user manual says that when I click on library there shoud be green columns in right top window but nothing happens. Is it possable that my download went wrong? Please keep any replies in simple layman terms as I'm only ok with software programs not computer details. I sure hope someone can help I really like this site and did accidently get some songs to show up in my wmp but never in lw library, about 4 out of 20 attempts of songs that have showen up 100 percent downloaded.
