![]() Hey Forum! First-time-poster, long-time-user here. Looks like I may have the opposite Firewall problem than most people are having. Until recently, I was able to fully connect & share on the LW system WITH the Firewall icon appearing in front of the Globe icon in the bottom taskbar. I liked it this way since it didn't seem to affect performance & it was [hopefully] more secure. This past week, however, as soon as I'm fully connected, the Firewall icon goes away. How do I get back to where I was before, with full connectivity & protection? Here are my system details: 1. Windows XP [Fully updated as of 2/29/08] 2. Norton Internet Security 2005 [Fully updated 2/29/08] 3. 448 MB RAM 4. 127 GB HD space available 5. Cable Connection [Up to 8 Mbps] 6. Generic Modem supplied by ISP [Model #60678EU] 7. Apartment Complex 8. LW 4.16.6 Pro 9. Mediacom 10. 'Your Test Worked!' 11. No other computers or P2P programs 12. New problem with experienced user 13. NO Brickwall once TurboCharge-connected 14. UPnP enabled 15. See #2 [Norton is over-riding Windows SP2 Security] 16. US Thanks!!! |

![]() The LW firewall icon isn't showing whether your firewall is on or not...it's showing that LW's detected a firewall that hasn't been configured to allow LW. It's not any indication of whether your computer is protected or not ![]() If you were seeing the firewall icon before, chances are that not so many people could download from you. Have you seen more uploads since the brick wall disappeared? My firewall's always on but I don't see the firewall icon because I've configured my firewalls (software & router) to allow LW. If you're concerned about protection while using p2p, have a look at PeerGuardian2...it's a free IP filter, to give you a bit of extra security ![]() Phoenix Labs » PeerGuardian 2 PeerGuardian 2:Manual - Phoenix Labs Wiki Last edited by birdy; February 29th, 2008 at 10:30 PM. |
