Songs won't play on LW Player None of my songs on limewire will play. I've had this problem for a long while now, and it happens throughout different versions. The strange thing is, it just happened suddenly one day. Why can't I play my mp3's? (I can play them with programs outside limewire, like Windows Media Player.) |
If you are refering to the LW Player, then It is known not to be very good. Well let me rephrase that. It Totally Sucks. It's better to use an alternitive Media Player. VLC Media Player is Highly recommended here on the Forums, but there are even more choices here. CODECs list for Movies/Alternate players / Video help forums/ video-mp3 fixers |
Yeah, I was talking about the limewire player. I Kinda liked it though, because it was simple, easy, and I could preview songs. How can I get it to work? |
I don't think the Developers waste a lot of resources on the player. AFAIK there is NO Fixing it. Having another Media Player as your Default will do everything and a whole lot more than the LW Player. You'll still be able to Preview and listen to your Files with an alternitive Player. |
How do I set up an alternative player so that I can just click on a song and it'll play as I'd have expected the LW player to do? |
I've just received the most patronising response from someone called Zenzele - I hope any other 'help' is more relevant. |
Sorry Abinequine, Try this player. It's Highly recommended here on the forums. VLC media player - Overview Setting up default media player. Quote:

Do this by going into tools, options, Player, And then choose your player (Probably under program files in C: Drive) |
I have found that whenever a file will not play, using the Limewire player, that if I right click on the file in it's folder pane and select 'open with windows media player', I will inevitably receive a message saying that 'windows media player cannot play this file because the file format does not match the file extension' or 'WMP cannot play this file because the file is corrupt or is not a valid file type'. Then I delete the downloaded file and find a different file (of the same song) and it will usually play just fine. In a nutshell, the only thing I use WMP for is verifying file validity. ;?) |
That's good, as long as all your WMP codecs are up to date and it has all the required audio codecs. :) |
