LimeWire Detected A Firewall HELP!!!!! I have just had dsl installed and there is a router hooked up to my desktop computer so that my laptop can be wireless and run. I have limewire pro on both computers .. desktop is a vista and the laptop is xp dell d-600 .. Now when I was on dial up I never had a brick wall infront of the globe that reads limewire has detected a firewall.. Now that I have dsl and a router I have that little red brick wall on that globe. I still connect to limewire and can still download dont seem to be much a problem with the firewall thing .. But I was wondering how I can get rid of that brickwall?? And without a firewall being detected would my downloads be even better then now? How do I even go about getting rid of that brick wall? Can someone out there please give me step by step of what to do?? I really appreciate this .. Thanks Brenda |
As long as it's still downloading OK don't worry about the brickwall. All that means is that LimeWire has detected a Firewall. It doesn't mean that Limewire can't get past it. It sounds like your firewall has configured itself to allow you to download from places you want it to allow. My new Laptop with Norton Internet Security has a built in firewall and LimeWire detects it too. But the firewall has automatically allowed LimeWire to bypass it because I chose to allow it to do so. Firewalls are only a problem if they block you from accessing sites that you wish to visit. Most will let you through if you have chosen to have voluntary access to that site. It's only when sites that you don;t want to have access to your computer that your firewall will block them for you. I'd say don;t worry about it. It's agood thing that it detected you have a firewall and it's doing it's job properly. it sounds like your router has a built in firewall which is a good thing to have. |
