AVI file conversion

I have two DVD burners. Neither of them will "recognize" an AVI file. What do I do to make them, or Windows Vista burn a DVD? I put them in the player and it spits the DVD back out.

You will need Converting Software to do this. Have to convert the AVI File to DVD Format and then you will be able to burn to disc.
Nero is Software that will convert and burn. I use AVS Media. Generally these Converting Software Programs are NOT Free, but they usually offer a free trial version to try before you buy.
There are Several Programs that will do this, so you may try Googling to see what is available. Hope this helps. :D

Like Remoc said, there ars several programs that do this. My favorite is Convert X To DVD. It costs money, but it's really good.

DVD is in MPEG-2 format.
SO you could convert the AVI files to MPEG or VOB files and then use a dvd burning software.
To video converters, there are many such as Moyea Video Converter, Pavtube Video Converter.

VOB files don't burn...

I tried to burn a .vob file just before and it did not work. Also, there are hundreds of movie file formats ~ is there a converter that will convert ALL file formats? I have wasted 4 blank DVD's today ~ very frustrated! I simply don't understand all the file formats of movies.
I download from VUZE on Windows XP: I thought ALL DVD files were split into VIDEO_TS + AUDIO_TS... I really need someone to explain the whole process from 'download' to 'conversion' to 'burning'... PLEASE?
