javaw.exe error - Limewire 2.1.3 and 2.2.1
 

I have used lime wire for a while now - I have an earlier version on my laptop (Windows 95) that works great. I just downloaded it onto my desktop (Windows 98) and am having a problem. Every time I open, I get a few seconds of working Limewire, or maybe not even that much, then an error message pops up:

Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRAMFILES\JAVASOFT\JRE1.3.1_02\BIN\JAVAW.EXE
abnormal program terminiation

The same thing happened with JRE1.3.1
I downloaded 1.3.1_02, hoping to solve the problem, then just today I found that a new verion of limewire was available, and I hoped that would fix it, but it hasn't. Any advise?

I think Limewire 2.2.x is designed to work on Java RTE 1.4SE. Try downloading that from their site. Also I suggest not using 2.2.1 (Beta software is not always error free). I am not sure why 2.1.3 does not work though.....

It does seem to work fine now that I've downloaded Java 1.4
