No files in search result folder

When I perform a seach, it seems like files are being found. I'm getting numers next to the seached word on the tab. However there is nothing in the box below. No files. What is going on?

Same problem here - experienced user.. after upgrade

I just upgraded to the latest version, after using an old version for over a year.

Searches get results - the number goes up next to the word searched, but nothing displays on the grid....

Info for Admin

Here's as much as I can tell you - I downloaded Limewire yesterday including Java Runtime and installed both. During setup there was an option to choose an extra piece of software (basically an ad) and I said no, I also clicked no when it asked if I wanted to make Java the default for IE6 or Netscape - everything else I did by default.

When it asked me if I wanted to restart I said yes and as it started to boot down LimeWire started running. As it went through all the loads in its loading window the restart caught up with it, shut it down and then the computer restarted - that is the only thing that happened that seemed strange (why would LimeWire boot as the computer was restarting?)

I fired it up, did the online tutorial, went through options which I pretty much left as the defaults, then entered 'olympic theme' in the seach field because that's one of the things I'm looking for, and put audio in the 'type' box. The lime started turning, 'olympic theme' showed up in the search box below with an x on the left side and the number of results on the right side. It found about 50 and stopped but no info appeared in the box itself. Grouped was checked but unchecking this made no difference.

All the buttons below like download any or download all are greyed out. One thing I've noticed - the download box below has a bar of blue buttons that say "name/size/status/chat, etc". The search box does not have this bar in it even though from the tutorial I know its supposed to.

That's about the best I can tell you. I've heard great things about LimeWire and was just checking it out because I planned to get Pro immediately if it worked well because I'm always happy to support good work. On the other hand I need that theme for a project and if I can't get Limewire to work I'll have to find another program because I'm under deadline. Hope you all can figure it out. If you need any more info or want to contact me to get specs on my setup I'm happy to help. My email is mooquat@hotmail.com.

p.s....

I was unregistered in my post yesterday so for clarification...I'm running 98SE, have a DSL connection going through a router for my network - I know the router has a firewall but know nothing about it.

Versions...

What versions of LW are exhibiting this behavior? That would really help us debug the problem. Are you seeing it in code before 2.2.0?

Thanks,
Christopher Rohrs

mooquat February 26th, 2002 10:30 AM

Version

I've got 2.2.1

bigteethandgums February 26th, 2002 11:19 AM

No text in window problem

Note: I just installed 2.2.1 today and have the same issue of connecting okay, searching okay, but no text in window (I can right click on something that allows me to select from a list but since the hot buttons are grayed out both above and below in the download window, I believe nothing would actually download.
Note: I received an alert today to install the new version of LW and did. I suspect this problem is alot bigger than you guys think it is. Used "Clean" Lime, per your suggestion (which was not user friendly to intall) but that did not fix the problem. I suspect if you do not fix this issue soon you will have a major drop in usage. OS: W98 second edition with 5.5 IE, latest updates, Java 1.3

bigteethandgums February 26th, 2002 11:39 AM

That fixed it, but

Dude, that fixed it but... when right clicking on your link, Windows puts a .txt extension and does not overwrite the existing file.

I deleted and then renamed the (.txt) file and it worked, thanks!!

lstorrey February 26th, 2002 08:14 PM

yay!

That download did it! Thank you!:

Unregistered February 26th, 2002 08:18 PM

Ok, I used to work software support and heard a lot of 'sure you did' stories but here is what happened to me.
Downloaded LimeWire 2.2.1 and had the same problem with no results in the search window. Windows 98, accepted all the defaults during install.
I uninstalled 2.2.1 and was searching for an older version (using this forum) when I came across the display.props file. I downloaded it, removed the txt extension and put it in the folder where I had the LimeWire installation program (c:\window\desktop\tempinstall\gnutella\limewire). The installation went the same as before and I can see the file names in the search window now. Go figure!
Thanx for posting the display.props file.

wrong and wrong.

- it's not a rip off and there actually ARE minor changes
- it HASN'T got this embarassing bug, it's almost perfect

afisk February 27th, 2002 07:57 AM

Clean LimeWire. Right.

Anyway, this issue is fixed in the latest LimeWire. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Who told you?

Trustar has fixed this problem before the user have discovered it?

I will ask him about this!

Note:

My PRO version works fine too... so if you have "NO" bug with CLW this means nothing!

Original Issue

For anyone here who had the originally discussed issue of limewire failing to show the blue menu bar....... I had this problem!! And today fixed it!

A very helpful guy in MY personally link/thread concerning this issue, made it clear that it was a corrupted file called Display.props that you can find on your computer. (Another file called limewire.props should be also found in that directory - to make sure you are in the right place.)

If the file is blank, or missing. Then create a text file and put something like these following lines in it. Save it, and restart limewire. (limewire should not be running while you edit this file.)

LOCATION=105
COUNT=15
QUALITY=67
TYPE=37
VENDOR=60
SIZE=67
CHAT=28
audios__audio__bitrate__=59
SPEED=57
NAME=393

Good luck!!!
