Lime Wire gave me a Virus

Lime wire has given me a virus. It has locked my tool bar and i can't access my task manager. When i restart my computer, Windows Defender picks up the same Trojan Virus that i just deleted. Is there anything that i can do? I download some anit-spyware (Ad-ware) but it didn't help.

You mean you got a virus using Limewire.

I think people have been getting good results removing at least variants of that virus using the AVG free Antivirus, so maybe try that. Boot in safe mode, run it, and then turn off and back on system restore. If that doesn't work then we need to move to more advanced tactics.

Pretty late, but be careful what you download. Always scan before opening and stay away from zip and exe files.

Well have you tried scanning with it? It should come up with a hit on the virus if it's any good.

Exactly !

I wrote this to another user only yesterday, so hizzle1, have a read for a bit more explaining...
btw, the post in the link is NOT meant as anything heavy against YOU ! ;)
Just basic info.

(I know... The link title you see doesn't make any sense... But it does have info for you, honest.)

And, please also check out > Nod32 - Free Virus Scan: Use ESET's Online Antivirus Scanner

It's free, safe, clean and allegedly the best 'publically available' anti-virus program out there today.
The free scan doesn't just detect and then tell you to send money for the cleanup...
It does the scan and any fixes needed !
Nice, huh ?

how can i install this Active X technology thing? it stated that i need this technology stuff..please help..

Remoc May 12th, 2008 04:46 PM

A Pop Up or Warning Bar should ask for your permission to install on your puter. Active X is seen as Bad and thats why you should get the Pop Up or Warning Bar across the top of the window. It will ultimately be up to you wheather you install it or not.
