pop-up problems! please help!

Normally I have no problems with Limewire, because I'm careful of what I download. But I recently tried to download ********** (I downloaded a .zip folder), and when I tried to install it, Limewire started popping up every couple of seconds, even if I quit it. I was also getting a lot of pop-ups from Internet Explorer (which is strange because I always use Firefox). I uninstalled Limewire, and searched my computer for any stray files with the keyword "Limewire" and nothing poped up. Yet I'm still recieving the pop-ups from Internet Expolrer, and now on occasions blank pop-ups from Firefox. I have 2 Anti-Virus programs (Kaspersky&McAfee), and I've scanned my computer twice so far from Kaspersky and I still am having probelms. Can someone please help my? I'm DYING here!

Yeah, you got a virus. Wasn't LW's doing, it was most likely that zip file.

There are some remedies available to you. There's a lot of info with specific instructions in the forum. I'm too tired to direct you further right now. You can easily find it in the forum (read through Windows Support or NewPosts and you'll find the links).

Since LW has become so popular, it has become a bigger target for those against p-p file sharing. Most of us with experience in this have stopped downloading ANY zipped, or program files via LW. Some of us have stopped using LW altogether. (For prog files, you're much better off in the torrent world, where you can access user reviews before taking the risk of downloading.) It won't hurt you to go back on LW or Phex, etc. for awhile, and dl music or videos before venturing into torrents.
Sorry I can't be more helpful right now, but I'm falling asleep. Good luck with your computer. Don't panic; my last infection was easily killed via sys restore. (Don't try that until you read more in the forum.) zzz

I've read up on the system restore, and I'm worried to try that. Recently when I tried yet another scan from Kasperysky, there has been a file that says "adware not-a-virus:Adware.Win32.Virtumonde.abnb" that cannot be disinfected or deleted. Immedly after trying to delete, Kaspersy will say " Running module avp.exe/kntrtngp.dll: is still infected". I have no idea what this means, so if someone could please help me that'd be great.

First things first...You shouldn't have 2 Anti-Virus apps on your computer, they may clash and leave you unprotected...

You need to get rid of one of them...

What is happening is that Kasperysky is picking up the virus, but it can't get rid of it...

Did you try to get it with McAfee ??
