Emulation software?

I am a huge Sims2 fan and recently bought the latest expansion- Apartment Life. When I installed it the first time it wouldn't load, I kept getting the message "Conflict with Emulation software detected". I have been told that certain music software may use emulation software. I had to completly re-format my computer in order for Sims2 to work. In the process Limewire was deleted from my computer! I want to re-download it but am afraid it uses emulation software and I won't be able to play Sims2 again. Can anyone tell me if Limewire does use such software or give me any advice? Thanks!
