NEED a executable jar file!!! When you go to My Computer > C: > LimeWire > lib folder you should see the "LimeWire" executable jar file. I need that jar file because mine is infected. My Trend Micro can't clean nor fix it and I tried reinstalling LimeWire, but nothing changes. Can someone please send me there file, but make sure it's clean. I also tried deleting it, but LimeWire wont open without it. The hsqldb jar file was also infected, but I found another one through google. It works fine and it's clean. I'm scared that it might get infected again in the long run. Or can I be wrong and if those jar files infected it doesn't really mean anything? I mean the files weren't infected before so I'm guessing something is wrong. You can send it via email, that's if it could fit. Somebody else who uses Trend Micro is also getting virus alerts: Getting spyware and virus warnings I'm not sure if you're really infected, or whether maybe Trend Micro's giving you false positives. Which TM component is giving you alerts - antivirus or antispyware? Have you tried scanning with other AV/antispyware apps? Skyliner gives a list of other apps to run, in the thread above. Anyhow, here's a link to a copy of my LimeWire jar file: LimeWire.jar If you still get virus alerts after this, might be a Trend Micro issue? |
I have TM: Internet Security and the antivirus is giving me the alert. I will give Skyliner a try. THANKS for the jar file!!!!!!!!!!!! EDIT: The file is password protected on the site. EDIT2: I figured out the password. Thanks! |
Ah sorry, I didn't mean to password protect it:blink: It's ok to download now:) |
I guess you took off the pw, I guess I didn't figure it out. lol |
This is what I'm getting and for some reason I ran the scan on yours after downloading it, I got the same thing. Is it just my computer or TM is acting up? Their is like 10 different threats on one file. That's what it's saying when TM alert comes up. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...mponent/TM.jpg |
That file is clean. At any rate, it was clean when I uploaded it;) I scan every day with Avira AntiVir. I use Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D & AdAware. Try some of the other apps that Skyliner suggests. There's also Kaspersky's online scan: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner & ESET's online scanner: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ Since there are 2 of you now who've had the same prob & you both use Trend Micro, I'd be inclined to think it was a false positive from your scanner. But I can't find any info to say that there's a problem with false positives lately! Have you noticed anything weird about your computer - running really slow, freezing, popups etc etc? In the other thread, Skyliner also gives a link to a site where you can get free help with malware removal. If you're really concerned, go there & see what their verdict is. |
No problems with the PC what so ever. I'll give the free scans a try. Thanks again Birdy!!! EDIT: Ok I used the Kaspersky's online scan on lib folder where the LimeWire jar file is located. It didn't find anything so I'm guessing it's TM. right? |
Sounds like it! I just found these links. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...0062545AA8LmCN http://www.techimo.com/forum/technic...-problems.html http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...er-folder.html |
Yeah it's TM! I wonder why TM is acting up like this. Birdy you've been a big help man. Thanks!!! |
Don't know if this will help, but someone here suggests adding that particular file to the exclusion list of your scan: Virus Alert - Spiceworks Community :) |
I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I'm searching for that on my TM, but can't seem to find that option. |
Sorry - I can't help you with that:o Try here & see if you find any info: Technical Support Try the knowledge tree, or maybe they have a live chat? |
Yeah I went through all that already. I sent them an email and there is no live chat. Thanks for all your help again Birdy!!! |
Yup thanks Birdy & HeavyComponant. I have tried everything you all have suggested with no help. No other scanner finds any trouble with limewire. I will try your new suggestions birdy and see what will happen. I think I will be calling Trend Micro in the morning to get some answers. HeavyComponant let me know it you get anything solved. I will do the same for you. Thanks all llubkle |
No problem, let me know and I'll do the same. |

OK everyone, I just got done talking to a tech at Trend Micro. She told me that they are flooded with calls concerning the TROJ_Generic.Dit virus. She told me that they know it is caused from their site. You do not have this virus if it says you do. They are working on it as fast as possible and to be patient. Also she told me that their sorry for the inconvience. Hopefully it will be taken care of soon. Thanks everyone for the help have a good one llubkle |
