How Do I Discard Bad Downloaded Song Files?

I have Limewire 5.0.11. I downloaded a few songs, which are located in the Limeiwre "My Library" section. The songs files also appeared on my desktop. I put the songs I wanted to keep in my ITunes. I deleted the rest from my desktop by placing them in my desktop recycle bin.

One song - ****** - turned out to be a bad download. I deleted it from "My Library" and then I tried to delete it from my desktop. When I try to do this, a message pops up saying: "Cannot delete ******: It is being used by another person or program. Close any program that might be using file and try again."

I have searched my computer for this program and I cannot find it. I checked "mydocumentsandseetings/keithrosenkranz/limewire" and nothing exists in ".limewire." I can't find it anywhere else but on my desktop.

How do I delete this particular song file? It is stuck on my desktop and I can't figure out what to do. Can anyone help me please?

Thank you.

Make sure LW is closed when you attempt to delete the file. If still will not delete: Some tools & advice here Incomplete Download File won't delete at all (click on link). I do not recommend downloading to the desktop, it is a hazardous method. I am aware of one bad file which corrupts the surrounding folder. Only way to delete it is to delete the parent folder. If that's your desktop folder then ... :wasntme:

Thank you for your help. Amazing as this may sound, I downloaded a song a few minutes ago and the song I wrote about changed to a different looking file on my desktop. I tried to delete it and it worked! I'm not sure what happened, but my problem has been solved.

How do I change things so songs do not download to my desktop?

Thank you again!
