Default limewire and itunes

hi can anyone tell me how to make limewire compatible with itunes. When I look in itunes under limewire folder it gives me a message that says this shared folder is not compatible with this version of itunes. I've never had this problem before.

Chiming in here because I'm having the same issue. I've searched the boards for a solution but people seem to give a solution for transferring files to iPod, which isn't what I want to do.

Before I upgraded my iTunes, I used to be able to listen to my Limewire music through iTunes as a 'Shared' network folder. I can no longer do that. The error simply says that it's incompatible. Any solutions?

iTunes 7.7 is not compatible with any version of LW.

I'd recommend uninstalling iTunes & getting any version older (not too early). Version 7.0 should be fine: iTunes - OldVersion.com

The LW Playlists will not import into iPod.
It depends upon which version of LimeWire (LW) you are using.
If using LW 5, the songs will automatically Add to iTunes if you enable that option in LW's preference options. Otherwise you need to add the songs manually.
For LW 4 users using windows, you need to add the song files manually.
Instructions how to add the files properly to iTunes here: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link}

When the songs are being added to iTunes, you will see them being added with a progress window at top of iTunes. Example images shown in that link. ie: song files need to be within iTunes music folders for them to be added to iPod.

Adding to iPod can be via synching playlists or done manually. See the iPod tutorials to see how to do it manually (which was my preferred method.)

Default Error Message: "The shared library <name> is not compatible with this version of iTunes"

Hi, Is the best work-around for this error still re-installing an older version of iTunes? I don't even remember upgrading iTunes - does it do it automatically? (I'm running Windows XP and LimeWire 4.16.7) Would a newer version of LimeWire solve the problem? Thank You.

oops sorry .. almost gave wrong impression in your PM. LW 4.18.7 fixed the iTunes issue for iTunes version 7.11.1 and 8. So using the version of LW you are at moment, you will still have that problem. iTunes changed the way they use DAAP technology.

Thank You! I just checked and the latest version of LimeWire seems to be 5.0.11. Should I just go ahead and download it? Are there any benefits to the "Pro" version, which costs $$ ? Also, how can I tell which version of iTunes I'm running? Thanks very much !!
