Windows Media Player

Whenever I try to play a song I just downloaded I am getting a message that tells me the file I am attempting to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. Playing the file might result in unexpected behavior. Do you want the Player to try and play this content?

Regardless of how I answer it will not play the file.

I see this from time to time but now I am seeing it very regularly. Any help is appreciated. Thanks:idea:

Have you tried playing the files using another player? Try VLC player. It's free & will play most file types. Check the thread below for a download link.

If VLC won't play the file then chances are that it's a dodgy file.

There have been infected files shared in the past, which show as mp3.exe... not real mp3 files at all. Make sure that you scan all downloaded files with your AV, before opening the file;)
