Your speed settings are found at LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Transfers, you will see options for setting your speed to either Broadband or Dial up at bottom right of window. At top of window you will see options for limiting either upload/download speeds. If you wish them to be unlimited do not limit them.

Are you referring to uploading to other people, or speeds of downloads? For download speeds, re-searching for file & using the Get More Results by right-clicking search tab to find more sources to download from can help.

Downloading a huge 5.5gb file. Trying to make it faster because its going very slow around 15-35 kb/s. And when I download things like that through internet it goes around 90-110kb/s. But I can't since it has to be downloaded through a program like limewire. Any suggestions?

PS:There are seeders too.

your download speeds are determined by the sources and what they have to give....sometimes on torrents increasing your upload capabilities will help speed things up..and you know what?, sometimes throttling your upload speed will result in a faster download...

I can download large files off .edu servers (like linux distros) @ 1.5MB/sec....very rarely do I see that on the Gnutella network...

But my upload and download speeds are still at 0(unlimited). I don't see how I can make it go faster.

I'm also downloading it from:

Using a proper torrent program such as uTorrent or Vuse (Azureus) would help greatly.

Did you check how old the torrent link was before you chose it? Some older ones will not have so many people online/still sharing it. LW's share back for torrent uploads is preset. LW does not keep track of share ratio. And this in itself might be getting you excluded from some torrent peers.
At least with a proper torrent program you can control many factors, especially with the more advanced settings. With LW it's just hope for the best.

Download isn't that old, maybe a week. Hecka of a lot of people have downloaded it and are seeding. Plus I have Utorrent, tried downloading thing on it. Goes hecka of a lot slower. Dunno why. But I was just wondering if there was anyway. It doesn't seem like there is.

Also its not like I want like 1.2mb/s. All I really want is higher than 15-35kb/s. Gonna take at lt least another day at this rate. I want somewhere around 90-150kb/s. Thats what alot of people are getting on it. Someone I know is using LW (normal) and is getting 140kb/s....Same download.

Btw does LW Pro make download speeds faster?

uTorrent goes slower because it isn't properly portforwarded/allowed by firewall(s)/configured. That is the only possible explanation to Limewire being faster.

Not sure if Pro makes any difference on torrents. Pro does allow 2 more hosts per download.

Are you using LW 4 or 5? Not that it makes a lot of difference.

uTorrent or Azureus would do better, as Sleepless suggested, as long as they are properly configured with program & its ports allowed through firewall & if necessary the router. Should never use same ports for any internet program. They clash & the router/modem will block out incoming ports used if they are the same as another program used during same log-in session.
