music not syching to itunes

Noob question. When I go under "my library" I see all the songs from all my cds that I have ripped to my computer but I don't see all of them all on my new iPhone. How do I get all my songs onto my iPhone? Also I downloaded the latest version of limewire and now no songs will synch up with my iPhone. This is probably an easy thing but I am a rookie. Thanks for the help.

Have you first checked the music plays ok in iTunes? iPhone supports same formats as iTunes. It does not support WMA. iPhone userguide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/...User_Guide.pdf page 12 onward for synching. Page 73 for manual updating your iPhone. This might be worth a try. ;)

This was copy-pasted from iTunes help menu:

To sync media with your iPhone:

Connect your iPhone to your computer (make sure the iPhone has been activated).

When the iPhone appears in the iTunes window, select it.

Click the tabs (Music, Photos, and so on) and select the items you want to sync.

To sync only certain items, click Summary, select “Sync only checked songs and video” checkbox, and then click the other tabs and select the items you want to sync.

Click Apply.

You can sync your iPhone and your computer any time by choosing File > Sync iPhone.

If you don’t want your iPhone and your computer to sync when you connect your iPhone to your computer, deselect “Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected” in the Summary pane.

If you have problems syncing, try syncing only certain information. For example, deselect the Sync checkboxes on the Info, Photos, Podcasts, and Video panes, and try syncing only Music.

Thanks for the help. I think the songs that are crossing over onto my iphone must be WMA. Is there anyway in which I can get them over to my iphone or convert them to nonWMA files?

Since you're on windows, iTunes should be able to convert them to mp3/mp4. If you were using a mac, the mac iTunes cannot import or convert wma files. There's alternatives.

is there a web site that will walk me through this conversion process step by step?

If the wma files are already in your iTunes, then find them. Go to your iTunes Edit menu -> Preferences -> Import settings. Choose either mp3 or mp4 (AAC). I'd recommend VBR via using custom settings. Choose your preferred bitrate, click VBR option, then press Ok, Ok. Close out from Preferences. Select the WMA files in your iTunes library. Then go to Advanced menu -> choose Create .... version, be that mp3/aac, etc. That's it. :)

To find your WMA files, you can click on the top of the Kind heading menu across the top of the Library window so it arranges the library via file-type. Then scroll down bottom to WMA. Else double-click the Kind menu heading & it will put WMA on top of list.

I don't see them in my iTunes but I do see them in my Limewire. Anyway to do it from Limewire?

I believe iTunes will convert them once you add them. ;)
