Where has bitzi.com gone??????

This site is my lifeline and..... it's disappeared!!!! I simply cannot use limewire without it... HELP!!!!

Peerless September 13th, 2009 02:09 PM

don't know about via LW, but Bitzi just worked for me...

brand19 September 13th, 2009 03:17 PM

I tried to access bitzi without going through limewire too and it went to "ThievesUnited.com" not bitzi. Am I the only one who can't access bitzi?? :(

Peerless September 13th, 2009 04:11 PM

interesting...

first, completely clear your browser, both cache and cookies...

if that doesn't clear things up you have some other issue (like a corrupted hosts file or a hijacked browser)

brand19 September 14th, 2009 03:38 PM

Did all that, still can't get bitzi. Went to a friends house, tried there and the same page came up.... ThievesUnited.com. On that site it said that the site I was trying to find wasn't available because the domain name has expired.

Peerless September 14th, 2009 04:45 PM

uh huh...it works for me....end of discussion...not expired, nada, just plain ol' works...

again, you (and your friend) are the victim of some other issue

Sleepless September 14th, 2009 05:00 PM

I can only second what Peerless said. I just tried both Bitzi and Bitzi and both work.

Lord of the Rings September 15th, 2009 03:04 AM

Likewise, both LW 5.2 & 4.16 find Bitzi without issues for me. Only of course at times I get the 'Bitprint Not Found' message.

Remoc September 15th, 2009 03:52 AM

Don't know about you guys, but I think our little friend "brand19" is spamming for "ThievesUnited.com". I'm just sayin... *cough*

dustafo September 15th, 2009 01:03 PM

Fools

Before you go making someone look stupid, by telling them a completely different page shows up for them on bitzi.com because of their 'cache', you should go clear your own cache out, then go to bitzi.com, see the new page, and then respond.

Bitzi.com is gone, and until they can afford to throw down 10 bucks for another year of domain hosting, the original poster is correct, it is gone. And yes limewire sux without it.

Peerless September 15th, 2009 01:23 PM

now that's the kettle calling the pot black....both links as given by Sleepless work for me...

RIGHT NOW...

fvcktard

Windi September 15th, 2009 01:24 PM

I have lost bitzi as well

bitzi was working for me 2 days ago... but now I am just getting that stupid web-page that brand19 indicated. Are there any other websites similar to bitzi?

dustafo September 15th, 2009 01:40 PM

I am not a fvcktard, I am a web designer and computer programmer. This is a ISP/DNS issue. Sometimes it takes Internet Service Providers up to 3 days to take note of a change in the DNS for a given domain name. Other ISP's pick it up pretty quick. For some of us, our ISP's have picked up the change already, and when we visit bitzi.com we are directed to the I'matard.com IP address and a page that says 'this domain has expired'. For those of you with slower ISP's that do not update their DNS data quickly, they are still sending you to the bitzi.com IP address when you type bitzi.com and in another day or two, when your ISP has updated their DNS records, you too will be sent to I'matard.com. Nobody is stupid here, we are all seeing what we say we are, and I am not a fvcktard

dustafo September 15th, 2009 01:42 PM

All you have to do is go to a site that shows whois records for domain names, you will see bitzi.com expired within the last few days.

Sleepless September 15th, 2009 01:44 PM

Well I haven't looked anything up in Bitzi for at least a year, so the search I just made on Bitzi with results showing is clearly not from cache.

Try a different browser maybe, or switch your "safe" dns to normal DNS. Your security suite could also be the culprit, if it incorporates "safe browsing".

Peerless September 15th, 2009 01:53 PM

a note from bitzi:

Missed communications with our registrar caused the domain to erroneously enter 'expired' status for a brief period. The problem should be fixed now, but due to the nature of the domain name system it will take a number of hours to everyone to again see the domain.

FYI, for the future, you will also usually be able to access Bitzi via the domain 'bitzi.org', which is at a different registrar and renewed on a different period.

More details for the interested:

Our domain was on auto-renew, *and* a few days before the expiration I made sure to renew manually, seeing a confirmation page from our registrar.

However, the day *after* the expiration date, several days after manual renewal (and while I was traveling) an email was sent indicating there had been a payment problem, and the 'bitzi.com' domain was soon after reverted to the registrar's parking page. After receiving a phone call about the expiration, I was able to correct the payment problem with the registrar immediately.

Bitzi Bitzi General Discussion: Apologies for temporary 'bitzi.com' domain outage

my sentiments are of the type that this company that says they have the domain name for sale are thieves...scum...father raping seven fathered sons of wh0res...typical life in today's world where people are being rewarded for failed risks and the real workers are being shafted...

Sleepless September 15th, 2009 01:56 PM

Well anyone having a DNS update problem can just add the IP to hosts file

209.237.228.138

dustafo September 15th, 2009 01:57 PM

stop trying to give solutions, the domain name has expired, nobody can 'fix' this but bitzi, by paying for the domain name for another year

I clear my cache multiple times each day...

that was a completely moronic statment...

Sleepless sagely indicated a way of dealing with improper DNS records, and you spit in his face...fvcktard....its obvious that others need to clear their caches, not those of us who can properly get to the page and use it..

Was it a moronic statement? In the earlier post above, you can clearly see that the domain was out, because the bitzi people did not make payment in time for it, and that they have now made payment and the domain will be back to normal in a few days. There is no way anyone on this thread could've possible solved the problem of bitzi.com taking people to I'matard.com, only the bitzi people could solve it, by paying for their domain. So you calling by statement moronic shows you are the moron.

Lord of the Rings September 15th, 2009 02:24 PM

Problem obviously solved. If you still can't access it then see Sleepless' advice.

And I don't think it's wise calling forum moderators morons. :p

notice the tense you use in your words...

the payment problem with Bitzi.com was rectified as of 9/13/09...so anybody having problems after that date is the one who is a victim of a slow ISP...obviously my ISP is quick and I never even noticed any glitch...

Remoc September 15th, 2009 02:56 PM

I've seen NO Problem with Bitzi since the OP posted 2 days ago. I've accessed their website several times a day for 2 days, just to see if what your claiming is true. :D

Lies all Lies LOL

Sleepless September 15th, 2009 03:45 PM

I see dustafo, the brilliant web designer/computer programmer, missed his class about how to bypass incorrect DNS.

If using Windows XP/Vista (There are ways on any operating system, but I use XP and Vista, so someone else can fill that in):

Go to [System Root]\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Open the file called hosts(no extension) in notepad.

At the bottom add one of these lines, not both, and save:

Code:

209.237.228.138  bitzi.com

209.237.228.138  www.bitzi.com

Restart your browser

BTW, this should even work for Limewire bitzi lookup, at least it does for several other better programs. To be honest, I don't use Limewire.
