Default Where am I going wrong? 4gb of ram not enough!!

Hi all,

I hope firstly this is in the correct place as this is my first post. Im having issues using LW.
My first issue I could probably deal with if I didnt have the second, but my download speeds are so up and down 1 min they will be totalling 1500kb then a min later down to 50kb is there any reason this could be.

But the main issue I have and cannot deal with so currently I just dont use LW is RAM usage.
I have a msi platinum board, with 4gb of ddr3 and the software comes with a cpu & ram meter. Normally My ram meter will sit around 17-20% but major use will see that rise to 30-40 even 50% My issue is that as soon as I connect to LW is gradually increases over 3-5mins until it sits at 97-98% and this leaves my pc unusable. It just freezzes until I close it down again.
I have checked Java and im running version 6. My limewire is pro version 4.12.11 and the rest of the pc specs are below. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

MSI P35 Platinum Board, Intel q6600 Quad core, 4gb of Corsair DDR3 Ram, 1.5tb harddrives with 900gb still free. Windows Vista Prem 64bit,

if you are starting off with a lot of items you have added to share, then that is most likely the culprit as all of those files have to be hashed and that eats up cpu (I think you are experiencing a cpu usage issue, not a ram issue)

go into tools>options>sharing and see what you have available....if its a lot, then try disabling sharing and see if that solves the problems

Hi its not alot as once I check certain downloaded items I remove them from the folder from which is enabled to share and only share a limited amount. Also the cpu usage meter rarely shows usage above 5% sometimes it flicks up to 20% but that is the very max and only very rarely.

hmmm...well do a search of this forum for the term "ram" and see what pops up...others have had the same issues and hopefully there is a fix in one of the posts...

Just a thought, could there be a slight incompatibility between 32 bit LW and 64 bit Vista?
