downloading question???? If I have an internal network of Microsoft Windows XP computers at my business premises, all which have limewire installed....... Can I download a file from my Limewire application on my computer, to the limewire "shared" folder on another persons computer with that internal network???? If yes ... how? if not.... why cant I ???? Many thanks for your help in advance!!!! :fingers::fingers::fingers::fingers::fingers: |
You should be able to yes. :) And the download speed should be very fast if it's on a LAN. With LW 4, such a download would show up as a blue colour signalling it was a LAN download. With LW 5, I'm not sure if it signals anything about it being LAN at all. One easy way to pass such files across is for the one who has the file in their shares to create a magnet link & send that to the person who wishes to download the file, once the download starts, the downloader could then browse the rest of the sharer's files. How to use Magnet Links. There is also the Friends option with LW 5. I cannot give you specific details how it works since I've never tried it. :) |
thanks for that LOTR. the final paragraph you eneted mentioned once the item was downloaded. Im thinking about a limewire download from one computer to another computers Limewire shared folder over a network |
oh .. I think that would be more to do with how the LAN network itself is set up. You can make certain folders shareable over a network, or even the entire computer I think. Download location could only be one location however I think, perhaps you could split categories of types of files up such as download videos to one LAN shared folder on one computer, audio to another LAN shared folder on another computer, etc. This is not something I've tried so not sure if that part is possible. |
