Default Java 1.4 and Limewire

Hello.
Today I downloaded Java 1.4 and attempted to reinstall Limewire 2.3.1 Pro. However this did not work, the Limewire installer failed to see any javaw.exe.
On gnutellanews.com (I think) it said that the latest version of Limewire worked with Java 1.4 which worked with mouse scroll buttons, is faster, etc.
So, whats true and whats going on?
And (I wish I could shout here) there needs to be more information concerning builds and latest version easily accessible from the limewire.com website. I would like to browse to limewire.com and go 'oh, ok, new build available'. Version 2.3 is available? WTH is that? Where is it? What is really going on? Why the new version? What bugs and things changed?
Perhaps I am wierd for wanting to know these things, and for wanting to make sure that I have the latest version.
I see that one of the bootup messages Limewire gives is 'Checking for updates'...sure, it might have checked for updates but it never shared what it found with me.
Sorry, I shouldn't be b***hing, this is the best gnutella servent around. Now, if it was more aggressive in connecting (and staying connected, and returning relevant results, and being easier to resume incomplete downloads (hello, right click on a file in the incomplete folder, select re-search), and a couple other things I don't have written down) to the gnutella network, it probably would meet all of my stringent criteria and win the official "Approved by Garrett Socling" award, a very rare and prestegious award indeed.

Garrett

So, to summarize :
1) When I go to the Download Limewire Pro webpage, please have the current version number listed so I don't have to download and install the software to find out if I am up to date.
2) Keep up the good work.
