converting files

i've been using limewire for over a year and i've been wondering \how to save my music as an mp3 not an m3u. i wanna do this so i can post music on my myspace music account. thanks for your help.

m3u files are simply playlist files. They don't contain music but are reference files that point to where the music files are.

Your music will be wherever you downld it to. By default this is C:\Documents and Settings\"your account name"\Shared
Unless you changed the location. For fast & easy access, go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) & the folder will open up for you.

If your music is all over the place & you have playlists with music from different locations, then it depends on the program you're using to play them. Certainly some will probably give you the option to resave those files or whatever. But I don't recommend resaving mp3 files as mp3's. That will result in a loss of quality.

As far as posting music on a website, it depends upon local laws as to the legal situation; re: hosting copyright material.

The icon represents the default player for that type of file. You can change it in windows.

This thread might help: How to transfer music to my iPod

Why doesn't all the results from my search show up? For example if I search for a particular song, it will come up with, say, 200 results, but I can only browse thru, let's say, 15. Hello to all. I am brand new to LW. Lois

15 songs, 200 copies. ;]

Converting files has bedeviled me for a long time. My downloads of video clips has been restricted to mpegs without the appropriate converters. I would especially liike to view .mov and .avi files. All converters seem to be pay. Are there any reliable inexpensive (i.e. free) ones? This seems to be the only thread on converting files. Have I missed any others or helpful subjects?

Thanx in advance, Mykeel

Look under the # column to see how many copies (sources) for each there are.

We always recommend this player VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) which is free. And then perhaps see Setting Default video app

As for codecs, see CODECs list and alternate players for Movies. The conversions of file formats is generally discussed in the Tips & Tricks section of the forums, since it applies to all gnutella users. ;) :) (Oh & I guess you can always look at the "Similar Threads" window at bottom of page.)
