Default STOP button

I know this will be in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong everything, but sorry. My first time here, I think. It took me 1/2 hour just to find out how to "post" to a forum, although it's probably the wrong one.

I cannot figure out how to STOP a song from playing. Even if I close LimeWire down, music continues to play.

I know I'm stupid and it's a stupid question but I can't have LimeWire playing my music 24/7. WHERE'S THE STOP BUTTON?????? All I see is "pause", "forward", "back".

I just upgraded to LimeWire 5.2.13. (I'm sorry that I did.)
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2.

I agree, there does not appear to be a stop function available ... only pause. At least temporarily you can pause such music.

LW's Players in the past have had their quirks, so I got in the habit of using 1by1, a small, simple MP3 player with low overhead, and a Stop button. You can get 1by1 free at download. com and elsewhere.

A response from LW devs was basically this: Apparently the pause button now double-purposes as a stop button also. So if you wish to play a different song, just double click it. Of course you can clear playlists if you created one.

But as Blackhorse suggested, some of us use alternative players for the purpose.

(Or .. if you yell loud enough .. the music will stop because you won't hear it any more, at least until your lungs tire. hehe But a volume control on your computer can help too. Do we have a volume control on your voice?)

and if you have enough downloads going you're going to think the file your playing is corrupted because it will start to skip and sputter as LW's downloading function will take priority over the player's function....

i.e. go into the settings and make it so that your normal media player is the one that opens and plays the files

My eternal gratitude to the three of you for your responses to my question. I'm also having problems with downloading music, so I think I'm going to reinstall the first version I used when I got my computer. Can't teach an old do..., uhm, human new things in this household, I guess!

Thanks so much, again.
