How to preview music

Hello,
I just installed Limewire but can't figure out how to listen to the music before I decide to download. Please forgive my ignorance but can anyone help me?

Highlight the song & click on Preview. If you get an error from your player, saying that your player can't play that sort of file, you might need extra codecs. Here's a link to lots of different codec packs, just in case:) (the VLC player is great for playing all sorts of video files)

I discovered that but it seems I can only preview it after I begin the download. If I try to do it from the list of songs that come up the preview button is greyed out. Is that the way it works or am I doing something wrong?
And thank you for that link of codes.

That's right, you can only preview while you're downloading! You're not doing anything wrong:) Wait until there's 15 or 20% downloaded & then preview. If the song sounds crappy or is just wrong, kill the download!
