New to Limewire, Need Help!!!

I installed Limewire a week or so ago. Everything works fine when connecting and searching. But the problem comes when I try to download a file. I receive a message saying No liscense found for file, then it asks if i want to continue to download. Of course i clicked the cancle download button. It does this for everything I have tried to download. I'm not sure if i missed a step when installing the program, or if i need do something extra after i installed. Can someone please Help???!!!:)

does this mean that limewire is illegal?

LimeWire is not illegal ... but if you downld copyright material ... then it may be illegal in your country to do so. It depends on which country you live in & their local laws about copyright.

Well I believe in USA you have the RIAA & MIAA or whatever they're called to be concerned about. But if you're only downlding small no.'s of files then I wouldn't be concerned. It's moreso those who share the most recent movies (especially if they haven't been released in cinemas yet) or sharing very large quantities of "copyright" files. Many people do anyway. But sometimes the RIAA tries to make examples of people & uses the media to make it sound loud.

it means the users that have the file ur trying to download doesnot ownl icense to have that file but u can still download it ,though be careful opening .exe files as they contain viruses

I just signed up as well and am worried about the same thing. It makes no sense...if downloading copyrighted material (which everything on here is), then how is Limewire NOT illegal? I don't get it.

LW is not illegal, as there are many creative commons files that can be shared & downloaded without fear of copyright infringement. Likewise people can share their homemade DVDs & photos if they want to:D The problems begin when people download copyrighted material, if such downloads are illegal in their particular country.

Use the search button (top right) or Google to find more info!
