| Ok, i'm not really clear on proxy servers, but my connection is provided through my university - thats a proxy right? so how do i know what type it is and how the *!@# do i configure it? i CANNOT get limewire to connect and after trying every possible change in my firewall settings i've realised this is probably the problem so any advice would be soooo very helpful.cheers |

| AFAIK most universities now shape or block p2p use. You could try setting up your own proxy; A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions. Tor is supposed to be good. |

Thanks for the help, but i officially give up. Have downloaded tor and privoxy, also tried a bunch of other proxies, but the only difference is that it takes half the time to tell me i cant connect. i'm missing something here and i dont know what it is.looks like limewire and i just weren't meant to be. Ah, and it could have been so beautiful. |

| Make sure whichever port you're using is clear for LW to use. See Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link); ie: configure your firewall & make sure only one firewall is active. But if you're on dial up, you do need to use LW sparingly so to speak. ie: if you try to resume too many files or downld too many at one time, it can affect your connection or LW's connection. |
