Question Viruses

OK, we had a geek squad guy come to work on the old 'puter and he said to delete LimeWire cuz I'll get viruses. I thought you coold only get viruses from downloading software on LW, but he said to my brother that there are other ways.

1. Start Limewire Basic.
2. Click "All Types
3. Type "How to protect against Viruses"(w/o quotes).
4. Download any file offering help.
5. Drag'n'drop in to another place, like your desktop.
6. Scan it for viruses.
7. Read, run or install to preferred location.

By the way, if I see one more post of yours breaking the forum rules, I'll ban you !!!

Just a word about viruses i downloaded a programme from limewire it was a software aplicattion [a dvd from avi ripper] and it downloaded fine without the anti virus clicking on.I scanned it for viruses using my avg and it was clear so i ran it and lo and behold it had 660 different things on it loads of keygens, password grabbers, serials, passwords, ect ect ect it stored over 660 files in my shared folder all exactly the same kb so i deleted them all and removed the software and defragged but a really annoying message kept popping up saying your computer is infected with spyware click here to solve this problem. So i did and it took me to a website that was no longer in use.I couldn't get it off i ended up running two anti virus scans which found 2 viruses which i removed and ran a spyware scan which didn't find anything serious so i tried again and it was still there so a friend of mine said get hijack this [it's freeware] and run the scan and delete anything you don't reconise it had about 40 diffrent things so i deleted a few and checked a few and deleted some more and it was gone just a word of caution again don't go on programmes there 99% f****d and don't work properly or are viruses disguised has software.

Your absolutley right...Dont go near programs and games, they cant be trusted...That virus was probably planted by the site you got linked to, they charge you to clean up the mess that they have made...
If you feel that you have not cleaned up the virus completely go to Norbiesworld, he's a wiz with viruses and it's free....
