Zip & exe files are risky, I'd stay away from them;) That file size you mentioned is well known for being a nasty! This thread has a lot of good advice!
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of

Just remember... whatever files you do download, scan with your AV before opening!

The same here!

Hello, I have used lime Wire for a week now & was floored by the extreme amount of viruses I have encountered. A few NASTY worms I found also..I just installed Norton Systemworks 2006 and it picks out a virus/worm with almost every download-which is a good thing & I highly recommend to you-but-I cant download hardly anything that does not contain a nasty virus. Irritating! I really wish Lime wire would invent a way to keep out at least some of these viruses..especially the culprits creating/sending these viruses. Its unreal and takes the fun out of this. *********? Let me know and *************. Thanks and good luck! tammy

197.7, 228, 750.something there are a bunch of file sizes that you will see come up over and over again. these are normally bad. i always right click and then go to where i can look it up with bitzki. there are normally entries for files, but anything like the sizes i mentioned i would stay away from.

I did a search for some hard to find albums.

The only results that seemed valid were zip (197kb) files that had, not only one, various albums. After downloading one of the zip files I attempted to extract the contents. The virus protection program I use detected a potential virus. So I sent the zip file to the recycle bin.

Before you download (I'll use a fictional band name)

title-THE CABBAGE SCRATCH KYDS ULTIMATE DISCOGRAPHY.ZIP
description-All 6 albums
size-197KB

Ask yourself-
"How can they fit several hours of music into a zip file that small?"

Sorry, but you can't mention downloading of copyrighted files...Forum Rules. I know you're trying to do the right thing & warn people but could you edit the name of the game?

So many zip & exe files are infected, downloading these on Gnutella is too risky.
WARNING: Viruses on the network you should be aware of

You could always check if the file's on Bitzi & if so... rate it as crap. That way, anyone who checks it out will see that it's infected & hopefully, avoid it! You can add files to Bitzi (I guess you've binned this one by now!) & rate them, see the link below for info
How to use Bitzi
