Upload problems i think ?

hi

how can i check what has been downloaded from my machine,,, i mean is there a history list anywhere of this,,

thanks nismo

Sleepless September 19th, 2006 03:36 PM

To my knowledge it gets cleared every time you turn of Limewire. Not 100% sure though.

nismo September 19th, 2006 03:43 PM

Hmm thats whats been happening, would be nice to have a feature where theres a list of everything thats been uploaded and by who !

Sleepless September 19th, 2006 04:18 PM

Doubt that there would be as many users if they were tracked and logged while using it

nismo September 19th, 2006 04:32 PM

Yea true, anyway as ya here i might aswell ask, all my files are in the right place right my friends trying to download a file from me, direct connections wont work on my pc cos of my router and firewall (to much to change all the settings) anyway i changed the file to something unusual as to not get so many searches come up on her pc , but when she types in the file name she doesnt get it come up in her list to download but i can see under my monitor tag that its been searched ,,, do you know y this is ? ill post this aswell ....

Upload problems i think ?

Hi all,,
Ok ill try to explain my question best i can ,,,,all my files are in the right place, my friends trying to download a file from me, direct connections wont work on my pc cos of my router and firewall (to much to change all the settings) anyway i changed the file to something unusual as to not get so many searches come up on her pc , but when she types in the file name she doesnt get it come up in her list to download, but i can see under my monitor tag that its been searched ,,, does anyone know y this is ? ,,,

This also happens with other files i have i see that people are searching for them ( under the monitor tag ) but they never get uploaded ,, i have been over all my settings a number of times ,, 50% to uploads blahdy blah everything seems right ?

Is it possible that my files are not being seen,,,

Uploads tag always sits on 0/0 and the location tag varies ?

Sleepless September 19th, 2006 04:48 PM

Could be that she has set Limewire to only show 4 star results.

If you are behind a router and firewall that's not properly configured, you will be a 2 or 1 star result

You can change this under tools>options>searching to show all results.

You really should consider configuring your connection though. Direct connect is a real + in Limewire

If you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface then it means you have a firewall problem. Only "a few" people would be able to upload from you using a Push technique, but even that doesn't always work depending on the firewall scenario. 1st, only have one software firewall active. Then enable LW for this firewall; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

If you're running a high-speed modem/router then there's an extreme chance it will have an internal NAT firewall. If it supports UPnP then simply enable UPnP on the device. You'd need to telnet into the device to do that. Else, if it doesn't support UPnP then port forward. So it might sound like a lot of work at 1st look, but it doesn't really take that long to do & is worth it in the long-run. See the UPnP section in part 2 of 1st post here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Dash double-posted huh!? I was about to edit in, the best way to share files to friends is using magnet links; How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect. But being properly firewall configured greatly helps in this regard. BTW to make files easily findable is to use the description function or the id3 tag options in your audio programs. Describe option can be applied to different types of files. These tags make the file easier to find in searches.

yea i see it sleepless iv moved my reply to here mate thanks!!!

im a bit weary of the direct connection tho ,,, dude that like letting everyone into my pc lol

all i done was used Upnp i thought limewire automatically sets my firewall and router for optimal performance ,,, thats what it said ,,,

If thats no good then ill have to spend some time on going through those links,,,, and changing the settings

Lord of the Rings September 19th, 2006 05:04 PM

"If" UPnP is enabled in your connection device (for some it is by default) then LW automatically communicates with the device to open whatever port is wanted. LW's FAQ has instructions on FW configuration, problem is there's so many different types of software firewalls, so you need to do those ones yourself.

nismo September 19th, 2006 05:13 PM

Thanks to both of ya,,, My FW is zone alarm pro aint gotta clue how to configure it tho lol looks like ill be getting my head in the links you gave and the ZA help file ,,, not really sure how ill no if iv set it right im assumeing it will tell me in the LW links you gave ,,, anyway ill give it ago tomorrow and post in here how i get on ,,,

cheers nismo,:)

Not sure if this is any additional help http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=38788

nismo September 20th, 2006 12:43 AM

Ok i checked everything all seems ok ,,, my ZA firewall is set to allow javaw.exe ,, my XP firewall is set to off ,,, my router says Upnp is set by default anyway ,,, so how do i now check how good (or how many stars) my limewire is ?

Sleepless September 20th, 2006 12:58 AM

After connecting Limewire go to tools>options>bug reports and press example bugreport. Then scroll down to "recieved incoming this session". If it says "true" then everything is good.

If it says false then there is still work to do.

nismo September 20th, 2006 01:20 AM

 it says FALSE , Ok ill shut down ZA to see if its that if not it must be my router right?

Right i re-checked everything, made a mistake on my router settings and it is now set to upnp enabled,(with the belkin G router this is disabled by default) ,,, tried it still the same,, so as i said above i i then shut down my ZA and it now show TRUE ,,, ill go through my ZA settings again but javaw.exe is definatly active and all ticked apart from email ? (we dont need this ticked right?) is there anyother settings in ZA anyone might know of that could be stopping this ?

Ill also try updateing my ZA then going through the set up again and see if it picks up limewire !!!!!

nismo September 20th, 2006 01:24 AM

it still says false with ZA shut down ,,,, do i have to wait for someone to try and upload something before i can view the bug report ?

nismo September 20th, 2006 02:51 AM

Ok finally set up ! The easiest way i found to set up the ZA was to uninstall it then with LW running re-install it, The router was set to disable Upnp by default (something worth checking in your router settings as my box says Upnp set to enable by default) ,,,, now there is no wall in my LW FW icon and the session is as follows ,,, Is this now right ?

Looks alright now.

If your friends set up is correct as well, then you should be able to direct-connect. If that works then there is no doubt that the set up is correct

BTW if you use UPnP without a static IP then there is a chance that your IP will change often. Just look under the direct connect tab in Limewire after opening it. It will show IP+Portnumber. That's the exact number she would have to enter to connect to you.

Ok will do thanks everone for all ya help :-)

Please Help - Itunes And Limewire

OK AFTER READING THE INTERNET AND DIFFERNT FORUMS. IVE LEARNED TO ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY AND LOOK FOR MY SHARED FOLDER AND IT COPYS INTO ITUNES. NOW THE QUESTION IS. I DOWNLOADED MORE AND I DID IT AGAIN AND IT MADE COPIES IN MY ITUNES LIBRARY -
QUESTION I HAVE IS WHEN I KEEP DOWNLOADING INTO LIMEWIRE AND I DO THE ADD FOLDER . HOW CAN I STOP IT FROM COPIING EVERYTHING OVER AGAIN. AND JUST COPY OF THE FILES IT HAS NOT NOT COPIED YET:idea:

Lord of the Rings September 20th, 2006 07:52 PM

Please don't use caps for posting.

This question is a little different to the topic. But you should be aware that iTunes will not re-copy files it's already copied as long as the details of the file are identical.
