Can't disable uploads

Hi,

I was trying 2 disable all uploads, but it didn't work. The lowest speed I can set the uploads was 10 kb/s.
Bye

Why do you need to slow it down so much? You can change your speed settings to a slower connection type. LW's menu bar, Tools>OPtions>Speed.

You could go to Upload options to set upload slots to zero. But that's a bit mean if people can find your shares but can't download them. There's other options for removing shared files or folders.

That's one mistake the programmers of limewire made in the software. The moment you set your slots to zero the shared filecount should be zero as well and not show up in searches.

Strange that noone has made that feature request before, but must admit that I never thought of it either until reading your reply LOTR

Good point! I agree totally! :)

But how can I make sure noone can upload from my pc?
Thanks for all the replies btw!

Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Sharing & disable all options & remove any shared folders listed. Then go to Tools>Options>Uploads>Basic & disable Partial file sharing.

If nobody shared, there's be nothing at all for anybody to download. So people who share many thousands of files might feel a little off put by that but people have their own reasons for such decisions. Freeloading is thought of by some people as being greedy & selfish since it breaks the community understanding of sharing p2p (from peer to peer).

No, I didn't mean this greedy & selfisch. It's just that I think my pc is infected, so I'm not sharing anything at the moment. (I also don't download). That's why..

but thanks anyway..

Is the reason for this thread by any chance that Limewire keeps starting up even when you don't want it to ?

If it is then look to this thread for fixes and links to help sites

WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link)

If not then why do you even want limewire to be open until you cleaned your PC ?

No, but I think it's not nescessary anymore, cause my pc is cleaned now. So I'm sharing again!

Good to hear.

This thread got to be quite productive ;) Made that feature request :)

Hopefully the programmers at Limewire will give it some serious thought
